Can I attend open days?

Because of the large number of applications we receive, we cannot normally show applicants round on an individual basis. If you get through to the postal interview stage, you will be invited to an all-day open day sometime in the new year. You will have a chance to talk to staff and students and to look around the department. If you want to visit the department prior to applying, the faculty organises a small number of open days when the Department of Media is open one afternoon by appointment. Please check the faculty website www.biad.uce.ac.uk for details of these.

Will I need to attend an interview?

If we are impressed with your initial application, we will invite you to submit a postal interview. This will allow you to demonstrate your academic and practical skills, as well as giving us a very clear picture of what you could contribute to the course. You will need to submit a postal interview to be considered for a place.

I am an EU student. What fees to I pay?

I am deferring for a year - what fees will I be paying when I begin?

Can I transfer from another university or HND course?

We are happy to consider requests for transfers from other media and communication degree courses but to be successful we would expect you to have achieved similar standards to those of our first year entrants (see above). If your first year university marks are in the 60% range, or your HND marks are at merit or above you would meet the academic criteria.

Transfers to start first year studies are straight forward, but entry into the second year would require that you had covered the majority of the work on the UCE programme. There are second year modules in the programme which allow you to gain skills that are covered in the first year at UCE which you may not have covered on your previous course.

We would also expect you to demonstrate that your enthusiasm for work in media and communication is backed up with experience which would show initiative and commitment.
